LEAN Construction and NYCO
NYCO Inc strives to be the best mechanical insulation contractor in the Midwest region by incorporating an organized continuous improvement program into every facet of the organization. We conduct quarterly LEAN events and have adopted LEAN methods on the job site.
What does LEAN construction do for the customer?
The customer benefits directly from our LEAN operations through lower cost and adherence to project schedules. We have adopted LEAN principles in our office, warehouse, and distribution methods to reduce our overhead by cutting out non-value added tasks that contribute to higher overhead. We have reduced job cost by improving our material handling methods, standardizing our tool load outs, and providing a standard set of planning materials to our field leaders. Our pre-planning systems have also been refined to give us a decisive edge over the competition by ensuring early and organized collaboration with other trades, reduced deliveries to the job site, and internal daily synchronization meetings. The result of our LEAN efforts is a better and more reasonably priced product for the customer.
What are our methods?
We have a company LEAN manager who assesses all facets of our organization according to the 8 categories of waste that include: Defects/Scrap/Rework, Overproduction, Waiting, Non-utilized human resources, Transportation, Inventory, Motion, and Non-Value Added Processing. Our initiatives seek to build an office and field team that is wholly familiar with the 5 S LEAN method of Sort, Straighten/Set in Order, Sweep/Shine, Schedule/Standardize, and Sustain. By following these simple methods and applying them in innovative ways we are able to improve our processes, from the simplest to the most complex, adding significant value to our mechanical insulation services.
